How to use MEFi
STEP 1
Depending of the type of drum that you have, either remove the Micro-Matic Valve or Second Bung to gain access to the product Important – Follow the product's SAFETY DIRECTIONS and wear appropriate personal protection gear when handling product. Make sure the drum is sitting on a relatively flat and level surface before using MEFi. |
STEP 2
MEFi allows spray operators to set and lock the volume of product that you need to remove from the drum. e.g., Let’s say you need 60L of product for a spray tank load. Slightly loosen the Round Eye Bolt (Part E) located on the side of the Black Nylon Collar (Part A) and then slide the Liquid Out Measuring probe (Part B) so the 60L mark touches the top surface of the collar. Lock the probe in this position by slightly tightening the Round Eye Bolt. |
HANDY TIP – Never insert MEFI into a full drum of product with the Liquid Out Probe in the empty 110L position and then move the Liquid Out Probe upwards to the volume you need. This will cover the scale in product and move product upwards and through the nylon collar. |
STEP 3
Lower MEFI with the liquid out probe (B) locked with the volume of product required, into the drum opening. |
HANDY TIP – If the type A Male Camlock fitting is not facing where it needs to be pointing for access to the pumping gear, loosen the locking Round Eye Bolt and rotate the liquid out probe to where it needs to be and re-tighten the locking Round Eye Bolt. Keep a track of what you’re removing from your drum using a marker pen e.g., 110L minus 60L leaves 50L . If you require another 60L, your next volume will be 50L from this drum and 10L from another drum. |
STEP 4
MEFI is supplied with widely-used 'Type A' male Camlock fittings. Connect to your pumps suction line (LHS) and to the Yellow Liquid Out Probe camlock and start transferring product into your spray tank. HANDY TIP – Regularly inspect connectors for leaks and ensure that the o-rings are present and are in good shape. If you only have one suction line off your pump and it is hard plumbed to a micro-matic coupler, install a Camlock junction so it can be interchanged easily (photo RHS). |
STEP 5
MEFI works by removing product out from the top of the drum, not the bottom. As a result, when the volume you required has been removed, 'AIR' will enter the system and the pump will start to cavitate. No need to look where the level of the liquid is at and then to guestimate how much product has been added to your spray tank. MEFi will remove the volume that you have selected. Just listen to your pump as it will tell you when that set volume has been dispensed. If using more than one product, continue with your tank preparation until completed and then proceed to spray out your tank load. |
STEP 6
You’re back for another spray load and need let's say another 60 L of product. Your 110L drum has 50L remaining after taking out 60 L for the first load. To remove the remaining product in the drum, loosen the Round Locking Eye Bolt until the Liquid Out Probe (B) slides down the collar (A) and stops or hits the bottom of the drum. |
STEP 7
MEFi is equipped with a Water In Port (C) which has a custom designed exit water points (D) with one vertical and four horizontal exit water points. When connected to a high pressure water source (eg. fire fighter, HP spray pump outlet), water is directed to all surfaces of the drum resulting in removal of all product from the container into your boom and a very clean drum.
STEP 8
Remove MEFi while the Liquid Out Probe (B) head or elbow is in the empty position. If required, |
